       Hardin Jefferson Hawks    vs

F.L. McClain Stadium

Alumni football returns to Southeast Texas with a battle of two offensively driven teams. The Hardin Jefferson Hawks (5-2) will travel to take on the upstart Orangefield Bobcats (0-1), April 5th at F.L. McClain stadium.

The Bobcats led by 1999 Willie Ray Smith award winner, Beaux Daville, will bring a dominate ground attack. Steven Stone and 2006 24-3A All-District running back Josh Chauvin will round out the backfield. Chauvin spent the 08-09 season with the professional indoor football team, Beaumont Drillers.

Quarterback Jo Jo Vaglica will lead the Hawks into battle. Vaglica was named 2012 defensive MVP in week 6 of semi-pro league. He tallied 13 tackles in the game, but more impressively he did so with a broken foot.  Hardin Jefferson brings an experienced core of players and that could spell trouble for an inexperienced Bobcat team.

The Bobcats are coming off a loss to Bridge City last year in the teams inaugural Alumni game. The Bobcats were up 12-0 at the half, before allowing the Cardinals to reel off 19 unanswered to lose in overtime, 19-12. Daville would rush for 150 yards in the loss.

"We learned from last year's loss and know where our weaknesses are" said Orangefield captain Ronnie Hughes.  "We have put in a lot of work this year and we have the athletes to pull off the upset".

A lot is riding on the game and with a packed crowd on hand, it's more than just bragging rights. Two small communities full of team pride will be in attendance and the win does not just go with the team, but it will go back in the heart of the fans as well.

"We have a huge fan base" said Vaglica "We represent Hardin Jefferson and it's up to us to make them proud"

Gridiron Glory Alumni Football is coordinating the event . The company is based out of Austin Texas and host games all over the state. It's full contact football and brings all the excitement of Texas Friday night lights.
